Honoring 200 Years of Texas Ranger History: Baron Technology’s Role in a Legendary Legacy

In 2023, the Texas Rangers, the oldest law enforcement agency in the United States, celebrated their bicentennial. With 200 years of storied service, legendary figures, and unwavering dedication to protecting Texas, this was no ordinary milestone. It demanded a tribute worthy of the Rangers' legacy, and Baron Technology was honored to help bring it to life.

Baron worked closely with active and retired Texas Rangers, including Major Grover Huff, to create three exclusive, deeply symbolic firearms that pay homage to the Rangers' operational history. These weren’t just commemorative pieces; they were modern tributes to the tools that have defined Ranger duty for generations.

“My hope was to bridge both centuries of Ranger history,” Huff shared. “We weren’t going to go back to flintlocks and muzzleloaders. But we knew which firearms truly represented what it meant to serve in this iconic force.”

The result? Three Iconic firearms customized that were made available only to current and retired Texas Rangers—each representing a different era of Ranger service.

Each firearm in this offering is an icon in its own right, chosen for its real-world use by Rangers over the decades and enhanced by Baron’s expert craftsmanship and attention to historic detail.

Colt Government Model 1911

A modern classic, the 1911 has been a favorite among Rangers for decades. This firearm features deep laser engraving with select silver plating. Only 500 were produced.

Winchester Model 1873 Lever-Action Rifle

Bridging 19th- and 20th-century Ranger service, the 1873 was used well into the modern era. Only 387 of these rifles were produced, each featuring deep laser engraving with a color case finish.

Colt Single Action Army (.45)

A nod to the Old West, this revolver embodies the spirit of the early Rangers Engraving: Deep laser engraving with a color case finish. The rarest of the set, with just 275 units produced.

From the silver-plated Colt 1911 to the historic feel of the Winchester and SAA, every detail was designed to reflect the pride, resilience, and tradition of the Texas Rangers.

Now available is an Exclusive Five-Piece Texas Ranger Bicentennial Set that will be auctioned off for charity. The Stunning, limited-edition set includes: the three firearms listed above as well as a Case Knife featuring engraved details and a handle made from crushed brick from the Walls Unit in Huntsville, a historic Texas prison, and a Bicentennial Texas Ranger Badge, authorized for wear in 2023.

Exclusivity That Reflects Honor

These commemorative firearms were not available to the general public. Only active or retired Texas Rangers and select TRAF directors were eligible to purchase them, underscoring the sacred nature of this tribute. This wasn’t about mass production; it was about legacy.

“Anything under 500 is a very limited run,” Huff emphasized. “We wanted these weapons to be meaningful—something that truly reflected the elite tradition of the Rangers.”

Supporting a Worthy Mission: The Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation

The five-piece commemorative set will be offered at the Crisis & Scholarship Brunch & Auction on Saturday, November 15, during the 30th World Championship Ranch Rodeo in Amarillo, Texas.

The auction proceeds will benefit the Working Ranch Cowboys Association, supporting working ranch families in times of need.

As Ranger David Chauvin said, “We don’t stop until the job is done. Just like the folks in ranching. This collaboration is about honoring that shared legacy.

Where History, Service, and Craftsmanship Collide

The Texas Rangers Bicentennial Firearms Set is a once-in-a-lifetime tribute, designed by those who served, crafted by artisans who understand legacy, and created to honor two centuries of courage, grit, and loyalty.

At Baron Technology, we understand the importance of history, craftsmanship, and storytelling through art. We’re proud to have played a part in honoring America’s oldest law enforcement agency and are even prouder to support the ongoing efforts of the Working Ranch Cowboys Association.

The set will be available via WRCA’s online auction beginning November 1st. The auction will close on November 15th at 1 p.m. CST during the Live Auction at the World Championship Ranch Rodeo. Bids can be made remotely or in person.
